Buying Residential Patio Heaters

If you want to stay warm outdoors during the cooler months of the year, a residential patio heater will put out the heat that you desire. There are a variety of types to consider.

Fuel Types To Consider

electric patio heaters are the easiest because they do not have to be lit. They run on electricity meaning that you don’t have to run any lines or go out and buy the fuel. The only issue is the cord which can be placed away.

natural gas patio heaters are effecient but must be installed professionally making them harder to deal with. Once set up they do work well and are inexpensive to run.

propane patio heaters are the most portable. As long as you have the heater and the tank, they can be placed anywhere you want without the cords. You do have to go out and buy the fuel but this can allow you to have a patio heater in a place that a cord might be too messy or in areas without electricty.

Types Of Patio Heaters To Consider

There are the full sized patio heaters with the cone. These put out heat in a circular pattern meaning you set them near the middle of where you want the heat to go.

There are also infrared patio heaters. These put out heat in one direction. Instead of warming the air they warm surfaces. These are best for backyards and patios that tend to have quite a bit of wind as wind won’t effect them.

There are wall patio heaters that can be installed on the wall pointing down keeping them completely out of the way. Once on the wall, they stay out of the way and have a glass shield to protect them from the elements.

There are also table top patio heaters. These are smaller than the full sized versions but sit in the center of a table out of the way. These are easier to move and store.

Patio Heater Care

It’s best to put the patio heater away when you aren’t using it. The elements can ruin the finish and make them harder to light and stay lit. Consider buying a patio heater cover to protect your unit. These will keep the moisture, leaves, spider webs, and other things out of your heater helping it to last much longer.
