Electric Shop Heater – Shop Garage Heater Safety

Sometimes your garage and shop can become a bit cold during the winter months. Wearing a coat is an option but sometimes you need to be able to move your body without being in a large winter coat. Electric shop heaters are an option that you can use to get heat into your garage or shop.

Shop heater safety is important because you don’t want to hurt yourself while you are trying to stay warm. Natural gas and propane heaters do work quite well in the garage assuming that they are vented properly. If you can do this work yourself or have someone that can help you, these are a good option. For the most part the simplest solution is to use electric shop heaters.

There are a few types of electric heaters to consider. Some are radiant like the sun where the objects or people that come in contact with the light will warm up as opposed to the air in the room. Others will heat up the air and blow a stream of warm air throughout the room. Both of these work fine and have the same safety considerations.

Make sure that you don’t have clothing, paper, tarps, or any other flammable material in front of the heater. Always follow the directions and warnings with each electric shop heater. If you have shop with lots of fumes from gasoline, for example, you may want to store that in a different place to prevent a fire.
