The Mr. Heater portable buddy is almost a perfect portable heater. It’s lightweight around 8 pounds and has a handle that make it convenient to carry even after it’s been used as it won’t be hot.
The heater can carry a 1 pound propane canister on the side of the heater which will help it to run for about 5 hours.
The temperature controls have 4 settings. Off, pilot, low, or high. On the highest setting it can heat about 200 square feet. If you don’t want to use the 1 pound propane canister, there are options for using the 20 pound tank like from your gas grill.
It features a low oxygen shut off switch to help make it safe for indoor operation. If you are going to use this heater above one mile in elevation, this switch is too sensitive and will turn on and not work at those altitudes otherwise it’s a great safety feature to have.
If you do choose to use a 20 pound tank, NEVER use it indoors as there is too much possible danger concerns. It’s best to use a fuel filter if using a larger tank which does not come with the portable buddy heater.
Even when you do use it indoors with the smaller tank take precaution.
This is a great option for a small garage or shop heater as well as something you can take to the campground or cabin on a family or hunting trip. It’s durable enough that it will provide you heat and withstand conditions.
