Radiant Patio Heaters
Radiant patio heaters are another option of a heat source to warm your patio. Radiant heat is a bit different than others types of heater.
Radiant heat is like the heat of the sun where the heat comes into contact with the objects around it. Other types of heat like your home’s heater will actually heat up the air and gradually warm the entire room.
The advantage of radiant heat is that it’s much more efficient since you can point the heater towards the objects you want to heat getting the same result yet using less energy. Technically, you could point the heater towards one part of your patio and heat that while not heating another part if you wish to have hot and cool areas depending on your person preferences.
Some Radiant Patio Heaters are what’s called wall heaters. They can be hung on the wall and turned on when needed heating the table or chairs it’s pointed at. Others are your traditional stand up heater that will heat anything around it.
Although the heat of a radiant heater is different, they still are powered by electricity, natural gas, and propane. Most of these types of heaters tend to be electric.
The safety issue with radiant heat is to not leave clothing or paper in front of them as these can eventually catch fire. On a patio this shouldn’t really happen but it’s something to keep in mind just in case.
