The Importance of Outdoor Heater Covers – Caring For Your Outdoor Heater

There can be many problems for an outdoor heater and patio heater that is exposed to the weather elements. Sometimes the finish will go bad. Rusting might occur. The internal lighting mechanisms will get too much moisture making the heater almost useless. Worst off you could end up with natural gas or propane heater that develops a leak.

Using outdoor heater covers will help prevent some of these problems and definitely keep the moisture off your heater. Many companies make heater covers to fit your outdoor heating unit, but there are generic ones to buy as well if your model doesn’t have one made for it.

For day to day use keeping the heater outdoor with a cover is fine, but when there is going to be extreme weather like a thunderstorm or snow storm, it’s good practice to wheel or move the heater into a shed or the garage. If you have a propane or electric heater this is much easier to do than if you have a natural gas line connected to your heater.

If you aren’t going to take proper care of your heater, just buy cheap ones and keep the cover on when not in use because buying the high end models will still break pretty quickly unless cared for.

Another option are to get the wall patio heaters that stay installed to the walls that are protected with glass that basically weather proofs them.
